FAQs.

Just create your account on the Global Investing platform powered by Interactive Brokers. We will have your brokerage and custodian account created with Interactive Brokers. It will take 1 – 2 business days for your account to get approved if all the information is correct.

Once approved, you will have to fund the brokerage account by transferring money into it from your linked domestic bank account. Once the funds are available in your brokerage account, you will be able to make investments.

After selling any of your investments, whenever you want to get your money back, just click on ‘Withdraw’, enter your account details of your local bank in India and all your available cash will be sent over to your domestic bank account.

  • Once you’ve logged into the Global Investing platform, select ‘Transfer and Pay’ from the menu. Then select ‘Transfer Funds’.
  • If you want to wire funds from a saved bank, select that bank in your saved deposit information.
  • Otherwise, in the ‘New Deposit’ section, choose ‘How to Wire Funds’ next to the bank wire description.
  • Click on ‘No’ if you prefer not to save the bank and enter the bank information as directed. By default, the system will save the deposit information using the nickname below.
  • Now enter the amount of the wire deposit. By default, this is not set up to be a recurring amount/notification.
  • Click on ‘Yes’ if you want it to recur. When all the information is complete, click on ‘Create Deposit’.
  • This opens a printable copy of the necessary deposit information. Present this to your bank when you instruct them to initiate the wire transfer. You can view the details and current status of your deposit notifications by selecting ‘Transaction History’ from the ‘Transfer and Pay’ section of the menu.
  • You can also cancel your deposit notification from this page by selecting it and using the ‘Cancel Request Button’ at the bottom of the notification.

As per FEMA, these are required every time money is transferred abroad. Your bank will file them for you within the LRS filings. All you need to do is make sure that the information is correct. Then, download the filled-in form, sign, and submit it to your bank.
  • Also, please keep your PAN card and address proof handy, in case required.
  • Bank remittance charges for wiring money abroad to your Global Investing account depend on your bank and it’s correspondent overseas banking partners. These can usually range from USD 10-30.
  • Currency conversion charges by the domestic bank for both outward and inward remittances vary from bank to bank. These can range from 0.5–3 %. Please confirm these charges with your bank. Some banks charge a processing fee in addition to the currency conversion fee.
  • From 1 Oct 2020, a 5% tax deduction at source will be applicable on amounts above INR 7, 00,000 remitted abroad.

Generally, it takes between 1-4 business days to deposit / withdraw funds to your Global Investing account. Normally, funds would be credited the same day although sometimes there could be a delay due to a U.S. holiday or if the correspondence bank requires any additional information.

The Global Investing platform does not offer investments in IPOs for residents outside the U.S., at the moment.

The settlement is carried out on T+2 (transaction + 2) days for U.S. stocks. The settlement process for exchanges in other countries can vary from exchange to exchange.
